Daizy Driver app privacy policy.
Last updated
This page is for the drivers and installers who use the Daizy Driver app. It says what the app collects, why, who else sees it, how long we keep it, and what you can do about it. It is written to the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the rules under it.
The short version: the app records where your auto goes, because that is the proof that the board's advertisement ran and it is how you are paid. Advertisers see the areas and distances their boards covered. They never see your name, your phone number or where you live.
Who we are
Daizy is Daizy Digital & Media Private Limited (CIN U73100GJ2026PTC184333), registered at A-63, Bhaktinagar, IOC Road, Chandkheda, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad 382424, Gujarat, India. We put lit advertising boards inside auto-rickshaws and sell that space to local businesses. For the data this app collects, we are the data fiduciary under the Act.
Questions about your data go to Rajvansh Manav, at info@daizy.co.in or +91 82000 78779. We answer within 30 days.
What the app collects, and why
- Your mobile number, to log you in and to reach you.
- Your name, your city, your auto's number plate, and the stand where you usually wait, which you can mark on a map when you apply. We use these to set you up, to send an installer to you, and to pay you.
- Photographs of your documents: your photo, driving licence and the auto's RC book for drivers; your photo and Aadhaar card for installers. We use them to check who you are before we pay you, and staff look at them only for that.
- Your bank account (the account holder's name, account number and IFSC) or your UPI ID, to pay you. You can change them in the app; staff see recent changes before each payout, so that nobody else can quietly redirect your money.
- Your location, about every four minutes, including in the background, when the app is closed or not in use, while you are logged in as a driver. This is the app's main purpose: the route shows where your board's advertisement was seen, and whether you earn for a period depends on it. The app asks for this permission after telling you why, and you can turn it off in your phone's settings at any time; while it is off, the app cannot record the route and those days cannot be paid.
- Photographs you take of your board every few days, with the time and place they were taken, as proof that the board is fitted and lit.
- Problems you report, such as a broken or stolen board or someone else's sticker on it, with the photos you add.
- When you accepted Daizy's terms in the app, which version, and from which app version.
- For installers: photographs of each board you fit and of the auto's number plate, where the job was done, and the base location you set so that nearby jobs come to you. Installers' location is not tracked in the background.
- Details about your phone and the app: the phone's make, model and Android version, the app version, a scrambled form of the phone's device identifier that cannot be turned back into it, whether location tracking is running, whether battery saving is limiting the app, and records of when Android closed or restarted the app. We use these only to find and fix problems, for example when a phone stops sending its route.
- Crash reports, if the app crashes: what the app was doing and on which phone model, so we can fix it.
What we do not do
- We do not collect anything about passengers.
- We do not show your name, phone number or home to advertisers. What they see is limited to the hours their campaign ran, with start and end points rounded so they cannot point to a home.
- We do not sell your data or use it for advertising to you.
- We do not read your contacts, messages, photos or files. Document photos come only from the camera or from a picture you choose yourself.
- The app is not meant for anyone under 18.
Who else sees it
Daizy staff see what they need to run the network: to check documents, send installers, look into problems and pay you. Advertisers see campaign reports: dated photographs of their board, kilometres, the areas covered with a map of where the autos spent most time, and scan counts. Beyond that, these services store or carry the data for us and use it for nothing else:
- Supabase, which hosts the database on servers in Mumbai, India.
- Google Firebase, for crash reports and, for installers only, notifications about new jobs.
- Cloudflare, which stores the photographs, the app's update files and backups.
- WhatsApp, which delivers your login codes.
How long we keep it
- Your location record: 90 days. It is deleted automatically after that; what stays is a summary of the areas a board covered, which does not identify you.
- Board and document photographs: for as long as your account is open, and then as long as the law needs a record of what we paid for.
- Payment records: as long as Indian company and tax law requires, which is eight years.
- Everything else: while your account is open. When it is deleted, it goes within 30 days, except what the law makes us keep.
Your rights
Under the Act you can ask us, at any time and free of charge:
- What we hold about you, and to see it.
- To correct anything that is wrong or out of date.
- To delete your account and your data. In the app: Menu, then Settings, then Delete my account. Or see daizy.co.in/delete-account.
- To withdraw your consent, including by turning off location in your phone's settings.
- To nominate someone to exercise these rights for you.
If you are not satisfied
Tell us first at info@daizy.co.in or +91 82000 78779. We answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
How we protect it
Data travels only over encrypted connections. Your login is stored encrypted on your phone. On our side, each person can read only their own records, documents are kept in private storage and opened only by staff, and every change to money or documents is logged. If a breach ever affects your data, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board as the Act requires.
Changes
If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change affects what the app collects or why, we tell you in the app as well.
